Kiilopää Fell Centre, in the municipality of Inari, is an ideal place for those who love outdoor activities and Arctic nature, but it is equally fantastic for those who just want to relax. Kiilopää offers beauty and tranquillity of Lapland, nesting at the foot of tall hills and next to the huge national park, one of the largest nature reserves in Finland. For cross-country skiers, there is a network of 170 kilometres of skiing trails departing from the centre’s courtyard. For beginners, there is a chance to learn both snow-shoeing and skiing.

The fell centre offers a chance to explore the Arctic nature in a safe environment, staying in new, cosy log cabins with self catering,or having your tasty, hearty meals in the centre’s restaurants.

During your stay there are guided cross-country skiing trips and snowshoe hikes, smoke saunas and winter swimming. In the evenings you can stretch and flex your muscles after a sporting day, join in singing together, fry your own pancakes and sausages by open fire, and enjoy a special Sami culture evening. Your evening walk could be lit up by colourful northern lights.

Accommodation is in a new, self catering log cabin. There are 26 cabins situated about 250-500 metres from the fell centre’s main building with restaurants, cafeteria and shops. The cabins combine all modern conveniences with traditional building style. The interiors are built from wood giving the cabins a clean and friendly feel.

The package runs from Saturday to Thursday from January to April. It includes return flights from London Heathrow or Manchester to Ivalo with transfers, and five nights stay at the Kiilopää Fell Centre.

Sunday
Guided cross-country skiing trip to climatize to the Lapland’s landscape. After a day outdoors, you can enjoy a special Sami culture evening at the centre (starting 06.02.2011).

Monday
Guided Nordic skiing trip or cross-country skiing school for beginners. You can hire equipment at the centre (eur10/person/day). There is an instructor helping the guests to flex and stretch their muscles after the day’s activities in the afternoon.

Tuesday
Guided snow shoe trip in the morning or stars and the moon -guided snow shoe trip in the evening. You can also join singing together with other guests (starting 22.2.2011).

Wednesday
More guided cross-country skiing, and a chance to have smoke sauna and a swim (eur10/person). Many people really get hooked on the idea of splashing in the refreshing icy water. You can also join the traditional pancake frying by open fire in the turf hut Maahinen during the evening. There is an instructor helping the guests to flex and stretch their muscles after the day’s activities.

More about the log cabin in Kiilopää

Two cabins share the entrance roof. Distance from the new cabins to the main building of Fell Centre is approx. 250-500 metres.

44m2/cabin: bedroom (2×80 cm beds), combined kitchenette and living room (sofa bed, fireplace, tv, coffee maker, electric stove, mikrowave oven, fridge), sauna/shower, toilet. Floors in the cabin are made of wood and wood is used in general indoors. There is dining table for four persons, cabiner drier for clothes and small outdoor storage in the cabin. Pets are not allowed, all cabins are non-smoking.

Services at the centre

The main building of Fell Centre Kiilopää houses the reception, cafeteria, small souvenir shop, dining hall, library corner Immon Kammi, Restaurant Kammi, equipment hire and ski waxing service, meeting room and self-service laundry.
