During one night, it is possible to see several bears – quite often there are 5 – 15 bears visiting the feeding place. If you are lucky, you might see a mother bear with some cubs visiting the feeding place.
Although elk population in Finland is high, it is difficult to see elks due to their natural shyness. The elk feeding place is located in popular elk gathering area.
Programme
Day 1 – Arrival
Arrive at Kajaani airport, where you will be met. After transfer you to Martinselkonen Wilds Centre an evening snack is served. Accommodation in a twin/double room.
Day 2 – Bear watching
After the breakfast, you can explore the immediate surroundings in Martinselkonen Wilds Centre. Lunch is served in the afternoon. Bear safari starts 4 pm and it ends next morning about 7 am. You will stay overnight in a hide, which has nice seats, places for sleeping, audio system and a toilet. During the safari it is possible to see different sizes of bears and some other animals, such as white tailed eagle and black kite. During the night, some snacks are provided.
Day 3 – Elk watching
In the early morning, you will return from the bear hide back to the Wilds Centre. After breakfast, you can rest or explore the area further. Lunch will be served in the afternoon. Later on you will make your way to elk hide for the night.
Day 4 – Departure
After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Martinselkonen and take a transfer to Kajaani airport and return home.
