Finland’s Lapland offers a perfect winter holiday combining both activities and relaxation. Ski, pamper yourself in the spa, stay in a snow hotel, go for husky and reindeer safaris, go ice fishing or learn ice sculpting – all is available in the Ylläs resort. There is even a good chance to see the Northern lights!
Ylläs is a resort for all ages and various ways to spend a holiday. There are restaurants, sporting activities, parties and good company. The resort is surrounded by a national park, and is next to two Lappish villages offering local products and cultural events.
Ylläs is the largest resort in Lapland and also the home for longest runs in Finland It has 330 kilometers of maintained skiing tracks, of which 38 km are illuminated. The tracks are served by 15 ski cafes. There are 63 pistes and 29 lifts, excellent snow park areas, super G-slope and off piste-slopes.
The skiing season starts in October and lasts until May. There are even so-called warm tracks where it might be 15 degrees Centigrade warmer than down in the village. There are two ski schools providing the basics of downhill and cross country skiing and snowboarding. A perfect place for beginners and semi-pros alike!
With the excellent spa facilities you can choose how to make most of your holiday. While the rest of your party is skiing, you can relax with various treatments indoors, and you can all join in for the evening meal and fun.
Round up your stay with a stay in Lainio snow hotel with a dinner in their fabulous snow restaurant. Enjoy Lappish delicacies like salmon, reindeer and seasonal berries. Lainio offers also a chance to learn ice sculpting or to go ice fishing – an unbelievable way to relax out on the frozen lake.
No trip to Lapland in complete without a snow safari either with reindeers or huskies. Ylläs is at the heart of the Lapland’s reindeer herding area, and you can learn about the local culture and livelihood by visiting a reindeer farm.
For more speed-orientated customers, there is a chance to join a snow mobile safari through ancient Lappish landscape.

Example itinerary:
Day 1:
Flights from London Heathrow to Kittilä airport via Helsinki. From the airport you can take an airport bus or taxi to Ylläsjärvi and Hotel Ylläs Saaga (this transfer is not included in the package). Check in to Hotel Ylläs Saaga, where you will stay 3 nights in a single or double room with breakfast. You can also add halfboard to your package.
Day 2 and 3:
During your stay you can do lots of winter activities. Why not try skiing in the beautiful national park or book snowmobile safaris. After an active day you can pamper yourself in a spa or book relaxing treatments.
Day 4:
After breakfast you will be picked up to Lainio Snow village and stay overnight in a snow hotel. Warm yourself in a sauna before dinner and enjoy 3-course meal in an ice restaurant.
Day 5:
After breakfast transfer to Kittilä airport and flight back to London via Helsinki.
