Tampere

Tampere city centre is surrounded by lake and ridge scenery, situated on a peninsula between two large lakes. Everything is within walking distance and the atmosphere is relaxed and easy-going. The city is proud of its industrial heritage, thus the former industrial estates on the banks of the Tammerkoski rapids are today home to various delightful museums, restaurants, cinemas and galleries.

Don’t miss in Tampere:
- Amuri Museum of Workers Housing, where you can see for example how a small room can be used by family of nine during daytime and during the night.
- Särkänniemi adventure park, one of Finland’s biggest pleasure parks
- Tampere Cathedral in it’s stony glory
- Pyynikki Observation Tower, from where you can see two lakes which surround Tampere
- The Lenin Museum tells all about the former leader of Russia

Jyväskylä

Jyväskylä is the capital of Central Finland and famous for its university, the modern architecture of Alvar Aalto and the Neste Rally Finland held every August. Jyväskylä is also located between two large lakes and the scenery is dominated by the green parks and blue lakes. The pedestrianised city centre is a pleasant place to take a stroll and admire the hustle and bustle of this modestly sized town.

Mikkeli

Mikkeli lies in the very heart of Finland’s lake district and offers lots to see and experience. The market square is a lively meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Mikkeli is a historic garrison city that is today home to several military museums, including the Infantry Museum, the Signal Centre Lokki, the Headquarters Museum, and the Naisvuori Observation Tower. Other popular places to visit are the Kenkävero Vicarage Area and Salmela Art Centre in Mäntyharju. Cruises on Lake Saimaa are offered daily in the summertime, and charter cruises are available. Fishing cruises are also very popular.

Helsinki

Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is located on a peninsular fringed by the many islands of its archipelago. Also known as the Daughter of the Baltic, it is a refreshing, modern and lively city with half a million inhabitants. Just as Helsinki cannot be described with a single word, neither can it be experienced in just one way. Helsinki really does have something for everyone.
